• the M49 was developed by Nordwestdeutscher Rundfunk (NWDR) and first appeared in 1949 in a small series under the model name B-M49 (also available for hire!)
• Neumann started with serial production in 1951 (revised design)
• 2022 presentation of the M49v, which seamlessly follows on from the vintage version and differs only in the tube type
• M7 capsule; replaced 1958 by the K49, which is still used today
• equally popular in pop, jazz and classical music
