Telefunken Ela M250/251
AKG's magnificent masterpiece
- the Ela M250 and Ela M251 were custom-made by AKG for Telefunken in the late 1950s
- elegant design with a metal housing finished in a custom grey tone
- apart from the additional figure-8 pattern on the 251, both “Elam” models are identical
- same capsule (CK12) and transformer (Haufe T14/1) as the AKG C12
- deliver a unique blend of beautiful presence and clear, silky highs. Compared to the C12, the sound offers slightly more presence and a somewhat more moderate top end
- two Ela M250s and one Ela M251 (all equipped with AC701 tubes) from the 1960s are available for hire
- serviced by CK12 specialist Markus Sauschlager
- manufacturing period: 1959-mid-1960s
Favourite applications: One of the world's most sought-after (and most frequently copied) vocal microphones ever made! Equally outstanding on a wide range of acoustic instruments, including acoustic guitar, double bass, percussion
